Description

Lardon-TR is a potent non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and antipyretic effect. Diclofenac inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme and thus reduces prostaglandin secretion.

Presentation

Each Lardon-TR Capsule contains timed release Diclofenac Sodium pellets equivalent to 100 mg Diclofenac Sodium BP.

Indication

Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondilytis, acute gout, pain and inflammation of rheumatic disease, musculoskeletal pain, painful postoperative and post-traumatic inflammation, dental pain and surgery, painful condition in gynecology.

Dosage and administration

One capsule daily. 150 mg Diclofenac Sodium may be taken if necessary. In this case, one Diclofenac Sodium 50 mg enteric coated tablet (Denac-50 Tablet) should be taken with a Lardon-TR Capsule.

Contraindication

Active or suspected peptic ulcer or gastro-intestinal bleeding. Previous sensitivity to Diclofenac Sodium.

Use in pregnancy and lactation

It should not be prescribed during pregnancy and lactation unless there are compelling reasons for doing so.

Precaution

History of gastro-intestinal ulceration, haematemesis or melena, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, bleeding diathesis or hematological abnormalities. Patients with severe hepatic, cardiac or renal insufficiency or the elderly should be kept under close superveillance.

Side effects

Side effects are variable in severity and frequency. Gastro-intestinal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea and occasionally bleeding occur. Hypersensitivity reactions (particularly angioedema, asthma and rashes), vertigo and hearing disturbances such as tinnitus, blood disorders have occurred. Fluid retention may occur.

Drug interaction

The concurrent use with Lardon-TR the plasma concentration of lithium and digoxin may be increased.

Pharmaceutical precaution

The medicine should be kept in a cool and dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
